JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS

The ability to identify hazards and develop effective controls is a core concept in health and safety management.

 

One of the more comprehensive tools used to accomplish this task is the Job Safety Analysis (JSA).When utilized effectively, a JSA allows a company to demonstrate:

  1. That hazards have been clearly identified.

  2. That clear procedures and safeguards have been implemented to control those hazards.

  3. Written evidence that hazards and controls have been developed.

  4. A comprehensive training tool for either employees new to that task, or as a review where specific steps need to be re-visited, (as in the case of an accident or incident investigation).
